Business mogul, Aliko Dangote has declared that he will not waste his time travelling to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup if the Super Eagles fail to qualify for the biggest football showpiece.
Nigeria faces Ghana in the playoff in March to determine which country would be among the five teams that will make it to Qatar.
Dangote, who is Africa’s richest man with a net worth of $13.9 billion, said Nigeria’s qualification for the tournament is important to all.
Dangote said this Thursday when he was escorted by journalists as he toured the pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, which is scheduled to host the return leg clash against the Black Stars.
The Super Eagles are hoping to make it their seventh qualification for the World Cup, having qualified for six of the last seven tournaments.
Dangote was asked about the game against Ghana which will ensure their presence in Qatar, and the billionaire businessman said,
“It is not only important to me, it is important to all of us here, that is what will make us proud as Nigerians.
“If Nigeria does not qualify, I won’t go there”.
