The police in Imo state have arrested two more suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, Christian Kpatuma, killed at his country home in Mgbala, Agwa in Oguta LGA of Imo State, on February 1, 2022.

Recall that over the weekend, one suspect, Deberechi Chukwu, an escapee from Imo Correctional Centre Owerri, lmo State, was arrested.

In a statement released today, the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Michael Abattam, said on February 6, the Command’s Tactical Teams who have never relented in their aggressive manhunt for the fleeing suspects, stormed the hoodlum’s hideout in the bush, in kpokpokiri village in Agwa Community.

”hoodlums, on sighting the police operatives opened fire on them . There was an exchange of gun fire and due to the superior fire-power of the Police, one of the hoodlums was neutralised while, two others, namely Ifeanyi Atta age 20 years and Osundu Azuakolam age 24 years were arrested while others escaped with bullets wounds.

On searching their hideout, two locally made short guns with four live cartridges and six expended ones were recovered.

The two arrested suspects, on interrogation confessed to the crime and mentioned one Ikemefuna Fredrick as their operational commander and volunteered to assist the police in the arrest of other members of their gang that escaped.” he said

Abattam said the Commissioner of Police,  Imo Command,  CP Rabiu Hussaini, psc while commending the officers and men for their doggedness, urged them to sustain the tempo. He then, enjoined the community and vigilante groups not to relent working in synergy with the police until the remaining suspects are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
