The criticism came despite that the midfielder scored Manchester United’s only goal.
Manchester United dropped to fifth in the Premier League table on Tuesday after recording a disappointing 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
Pogba put the visitors ahead in the first half, but Jay Rodriguez fired past David de Gea at the start of the second half to equalize for the home side.
Schmeichel believes the France international did not exert his authority on the match despite netting.
“He [Pogba] was completely out of the game and you can’t have players doing that,” Schmeichel told Premier League Productions.
Schmeichel noted that such performance was not good enough for the Red Devils, adding that at Man United, every player must always try to perform at their highest levels.
“You’ve got to have this type of urgency and understanding of when you need to push forward to get the goal you need,” he added.
